On 1st and 2nd July the International Animation Festival Fest Anča will open a dynamic dialogue between animators and the world of digital games with presentations from established creators and a diverse programme. Game Days are also perfect for those wanting to find out more about the creation of popular games directly from developers.
A highlight of this year’s Games Days is the Polish studio Platige Image – mainly famous for CGI trailers and Witcher and Halo games cinematics. Fest Anča will also present Amanita Design’s charming game Samorost 3, and the most famous Croteam Croatian studio – creators of the Serious Sam series – with their critically acclaimed smash hit Talos Principle.
Presentations in the unique Žilina New Synagogue will be enlivened by the free opportunity to play presented video games and test versions, as well as to try out Oculus rift, HTC Vive and Gear VR. There will also be film projections taking you back to when information was only stored in monthly magazines.
This is the first time that the festival is holding Game Jam – a mixed animation-developing event for the fast production of games and gaming prototypes. Registered teams will present their creations to the festival audience and an expert jury. Winning projects will be presented prizes including an UltraSharp 25” screen and a powerful Dell Inspiron 17 (5000 Series) notebook.

This year Fest Anča is delighted to welcome the Quay brothers – legends of animation. The popular improvised dubbing competition – Animation Karaoke Battle – will also take place, as well as the Google Cardboard workshop and midnight projections for insomniac night owls. Festival visitors can enjoy dozens of projections, activities, presentations, concerts, and special feature film projections in Žilina’s main square.
Fest Anča Game Days – now in its third year – are organised in cooperation with the non-profit organisation of digital game developers – Game Dev Hub and Sector.sk, the most popular Slovak gaming web portal.
You can buy tickets for Fest Anča Game Days on the spot (€10) or for the whole Fest Anča programme on the festival website.
