This presentation traces the term hypericon found in Pierre Lévy’s new French media philosophy. It explores the shift in our understanding of colour in digital environments by employing an experimental hypercolour work concept in cyberspace. Without any scent of its chemical basis, with a name dissolved in a number derived from the binary language of zeros and ones, what qualities does digital colour code acquire and lose? When will black become unfashionable and RGB blue be the new in? And will we still need a colour palette when we have one hypercolour?
