Hungarian Animated Music Video
The following presents an overview of Hungarian animated music videos of the last 20 years. The selection ranges from student works (Just Like; Bengal) to professional animations (Hétköznapi); from more conventional visuals (Hendrix) to experimental imagery (Work in Progress); from traditional, handmade practices (Napséta; All I’m Saying) to digital techniques (Enter; Mountain King). Although the majority are made for Hungarian bands, there are also foreign commissions, such as the narrative stop motion music videos by Péter Vácz for the British band James. The two earliest highlights of this collection are RAИBO 13 (1999) and Little Cow (Kistehén, 2002). RAИBO 13 became a cult classic among music videos, in which the Cold War breaks out again and the newest cult icons of the East and West (Lenin vs. Rambo, Superman, Batman, and Michael Jackson) are locked in battle.
